In 2012, I had a science degree, some experience in e-commerce, and a love of jewelry. After a few side projects that didn’t quite work out, I decided to try something I’d been curious about for a while: opening an online shop.
That October, I launched Olive & Piper with a few thousand dollars and a handful of products. My Vancouver apartment became the office, stockroom, and packing station.
Soon after, I left my full-time job without much of a plan. I kept applying for other roles, but while I waited, I poured my time into O&P. There were exciting days, plenty of doubt, and more boiled cabbage dinners than I’d care to remember.
Little by little, orders came in. People came back. What began as another idea to try became something I wanted to keep building.
Today, that apartment-sized idea has become a team of people I’m proud to create, learn, and laugh with, and a community that has made all of this possible.
You’ve brought O&P into your weddings, your celebrations, your everyday routines. Seeing how you make these pieces your own is still one of my favourite parts of what we do.
I’ve always loved that jewelry is something you choose. It can hold a memory, give you a little confidence, or simply make you feel good when you catch yourself in the mirror.
Fourteen years in, that feeling is still at the heart of O&P. And I’m so grateful we get to share it with you.
So thanks for being here, reading this and joining us on this journey.
With love,
